Introducing Veterans to PPC: Video Vignettes

Older adults and their care partners can be unprepared and even surprised when asked about their values and priorities by their health care team.

Introducing the idea of “matters most” conversations through short video vignettes can pave the way for a successful Patient Priorities Care discussion by helping older adults and their care partners better understand the intent of what their health care team is asking. Video vignettes can be shared directly with your patients and their care partners by:

  • Mailing a flyer before the visit and having flyers available in the waiting room
  • Watching one or more of these videos together during the visit or suggesting watching the videos in the waiting room
  • Providing an informational handout during the visit

The videos are short, 4-7 minutes each, and all have closed captioning. One video is filmed in Spanish, Alberto’s story.
